About itwillfail.com

Itwillfail.com is an online magazine started by graduates of the Oakland University School of Journalism in 2001. For nearly four years, it has provided an opportunity for writers to publish (and shop) original work as well as marginally improve the internet with public discourse. Titled "itwillfail" by its creators because of its no-revenue business plan, it has (very) surprisingly broken even on merchandise sales 2 of the 3 years of its operation. (This is more of a credit to its exceptionally low overhead as opposed to its actual sales).

Yes, this seems like a blog. But Itwillfail.com is different in that, for each issue, the editors pick a theme and compel the writers to write an article based on that theme. Past themes: "The Shock and Awe Issue," "The Whining and Gloating Issue," and an unforgettable "The Yo Momma Issue." Also stream-of-consciousness writing is strongly discouraged on Itwillfail.com, separating the tone of the content from that of most blogs.

Itwillfail.com is, really, a vehicle for the advancement of the writing careers of its authors. Articles from itwillfail.com have been reprinted on John Mayer fan web sites, and the Metro Times (Detroit) and the Philadelphia Weekly newspapers. Itwillfail.com is also home to "Ask Dr. Law Machine," the advice column in which life problems of our readers are tackled as if they were legal issues.

Getting involved is easy - go to www.itwillfail.com and click on the "become an author" link. You'll be sent an e-mail when the theme is announced for our next issue, and you can submit your articles using our online forms. It is really that easy.
